ConnexFM releases Canadian-specific Benchmarking Report.
Canadian FMs face myriad challenges separate from their peers in the United States. To support our Canadian Members, ConnexFM has created events for unique networking opportunities, a Council led by FMs and Suppliers to address the Canadian facilities management industry’s biggest challenges, and now a dedicated Benchmarking Report.
The Canadian Comparison for the 2019 Retail Facilities Maintenance Industry Overview Benchmarking Report showcases the unique perspective of our Canadian Members by comparing data from the ConnexFM Benchmarking Tool of facilities with a retail presence in Canada versus those with stores only in the United States.
“This report compares the results of companies that have a retail presence in Canada, albeit not exclusively, with those of companies that do not have a presence in Canada,” said Joseph Banks, President of The Institute for Association and Nonprofit Research, which did the analysis for both the 2019 Retail Facilities Maintenance Industry Overview Benchmarking Report and the Canadian Comparison. “This allows Multi-Site Organizations with a presence in Canada to benchmark against each other, as they may differ from organizations without locations in Canada.”
The 2019 Industry Overview found the average Canadian location has a smaller footprint than their U.S. counterparts, with far more locations than the Multi-Site Organizations with
no Canadian presence.
In addition to more locations, the report found Multi-Site Organizations with stores in Canada have larger staffs and increased budgets, in total and per square meter, on repair and maintenance, capital expenditures and remodel/reimage. The report has converted all budgets to be represented in Canadian dollars to provide an accurate apples-to-apples comparison.
